The truth hurts. *drops mic* And it’s terrifying. And it’s reckless. And it’s beautiful. It’s so, soooo beautiful when you finally accept your truth. You see, it takes some people decades to be honest with themselves. And that’s a very complicated life to choose to live. You’re choosing to wear a mask and disguise your truth, your being, daily…and that’s a lot of effort #aintnobodygottimeforthat So let’s have a little honesty hour. I would choose work over companionship. I’m extremely cocky…and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. I am a horrible listener. I’m really bad at keeping up with old friends. And I will always own every fact I just share with y’all. None of us are perfect. And there are few facts that we refuse to accept. But you can’t grow until you face the truth, so stop running.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far in life is that everyone deals with their own pain in their own way. And that lesson was always been scary to me. I choose to deal with pain head on. I identify it, accept it, grieve over it, and move on. It’s extremely robotic. But that’s what works for me. What I’ve learned is that you can’t run from pain. There is too much wisdom to be found in pain to ignore. You see, there are lessons to be found in your tears. And you have to face your tears to see them. If you continue to run from it then you’re fooling yourself. So let’s be honest for a moment. Life is rough…for everyone sometimes. It is your job to deal with your valleys in the healthiest way. Failing to acknowledge your valley when heading towards a hill is choosing ignorance. So, while you’re in the midst of a storm, listen to the rain for a bit. Stop running from pain, it’s a part of life.
I strongly believe that there are people that sabotage their own success. #stopthat It’s like they choose not to win because they wouldn’t know how to react if they finally won. What happens after you finally slay your dragon? What happens when you conquer the final round of your favorite video game? What happens when you finally win? *leans in closer and whispers in your ear* YOU KEEP WINNING! That’s what happens ladies and gents, you win and then you win more. The funny thing is that you know exactly what’s preventing you from happiness, you’re just too scared to get rid of it to reach it. So dump that scrub. Remove yourself from that circle of “frenemies”. Drink your water, wear red lipstick, and CHOOSE to dominate the freaking world. Do not let the fear of success prevent you from winning in life. Stop running from the gold.
*cues Beyoncé music, flips hair, and struts to Crazy In Love* So I know y’all are expecting a post about being in love with another person, chill I will eventually get to that post. The love I’m referring to is self love. YAAASSS say it with me people: SELF LOVE! For some reason, it has become taboo to say that aloud…and that’s disgusting. There is NOTHING wrong with being aware of your greatness, so own it. Don’t be afraid to say it, or even show it. So yes, walk across that room like you’re the ish…because you are. Tweet out: I’m freaking awesome…because you are. Twirl and skip down the sidewalk because you saw your reflection and it reminded you how awesome you are…because you ARE! And STOP apologizing for loving yourself. Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? You’re apologizing for being remarkable. #stopthat Stop dimming your light to appease the insecurities of others. And if you haven’t gotten to that point in life where you love every fragment of your being, then this is my wish for you. I wish that you would love yourself more than Forrest loves Jenny, more than Kanye loves Kanye, more than girls love Beyoncé, and more than Corey loved Topanga. I need you to understand that true happiness begins with loving yourself. So fall deeply in love with yourself…and then own it. Stop running from your true love….
You must be challenged to grow. That’s it, it’s really that simple. You have to take risk, challenging risk(s) to evolve. It’s fight or flight y’all. And sometimes, most times, you should choose to fight. Accept challenges that come your way. Obstacles lead to growth. Stop running from your growth!
We are meant to change, yet we still get surprised when it happens. You’re going lose friends. You’re going to move across the country. You’re going to stop believing in people you once loved. You’re going to doubt things that you thought would last…and that’s life. We’re meant to shift, to rearrange, to transform. And whether you choose to accept it or not it’s going to happen. I’m pretty sure caterpillars are terrified when they enter the cocoon phase of metamorphosis. Lol no seriously, wouldn’t you be scared? All of a sudden you’re trapped, and you feel stagnant, and you feel alone. But when your transformation is over..you’re a beautiful butterfly.
So we may not be able to rewrite history, but we can certainly learn from its mistakes. You see, only a fool chooses to ignore the past. Your past made you the person you are today. So spend a little time exploring that. Think about the events in your life that have altered your personality forever. Question why you have trust or intimacy issues, and dig through your history until you find those answers. Don’t forget about your history. Sometimes it’s a little dark and scary, but it has the ability to shed light on the person you are today. And that's pure. And that’s beautiful. And that’s truth. Stop running from your past….
